OFFICERS

Officers expressed that colleague relations were 'outstanding' ('truly familial'), with a warm welcome extended to new staff. MANAGERS

Managers lauded the staff's 'zeal', 'dedication', 'tenacity', and 'proactive' approach, which they felt compared ‘extremely favourably’ with other prisons, and healthy inter-staff relationships. They concurred on the points about phones, the safer custody team, CMs on wings, the Governor’s blog, and the staff mess. They valued the ‘distinct emphasis’ on managers expressing gratitude to staff for well-executed tasks. They held in high regard the reception and peer-led induction process, where new inmates are all greeted by peers and every cell is cleaned and fully equipped, ‘Signposters’ on each wing, wing councils, bi-monthly Prisoner Council meetings, and the substance misuse team.
